Jan 27, 2024

You have your work cut out for you with the generous number of behemoth bosses in Diablo 4.

For loyal players, we all know Diablo 4's bosses are a challenge to defeat. For newcomers, let this be a note of caution. Bosses in the game are all uniquely equipped to crush players with their own set of skills and specialties. What's more, you're not just facing bosses integral to the game's plot, you'll get a taste of world bosses too.

In all honesty, Diablo 4 gameplay as a whole is challenging, so it's no surprise that defeating any of the bosses won't be a walk in the park. However, just like any other game, some bosses pose a larger threat than others. Let's walk through which ones you should be extra cautious of when up against.

Found in the Sanguine Chapel, the Blood Bishop is one of the two campaign bosses in this list that can prove challenging and even deadly to Diablo 4 players. His moves are called Magic Missiles, Explosive bags, and the deadliest one: Grab.

At all costs, you'll need to avoid this move, as your character won't be able to move, you'll lose a good portion of your HP, and add to his HP since he'll suck your blood to revitalize himself. The Blood Bishop is a lethal caster type. Don't take him lightly.

At the end of Act Two, you'll be facing Astaroth, a demon riding a three-headed dog demon. Astaroth is one of Mephisto's Guardians, who now easily manifest in Sanctuary thanks to Lilith's rise in power. One of the moves you'll need to look out for is his Cerberus Leap move. It involves him leaping and crushing your character.

What's more is that he has a good amount of HP, three segments to be specific. It's best to get behind his character when fighting him since he'll take swings with his staff. But be wary. He'll also drop fireballs on you occasionally.

Another fierce campaign boss, Andariel is someone you'll be familiar with from previous Diablo games. Dubbed The Maiden of Anguish, Andariel is the only female member of the Evils. Andariel fights you in a sandstorm, which gradually decreases your HP if you keep stepping into it.

She'll be chained up in the beginning, but as the fight progresses, her chains will eventually break, at which point she gains additional claw-like limbs from her back. She also utilizes an attack that forms red lines on the ground. This will also make you lose HP so watch out for it.

Elias is Lilith's right-hand man and is the one who summons her into Sanctuary. He's immortal, and that's primarily the main reason why you'll have to face him more than once in Diablo 4. To be specific, in Act 3 and Act 5. In the first fight, it'll be his minions that will make it challenging to beat him.

In the second battle, you'll need to look out for his attack called Crimson Ripple. If you notice the ground covered in red vapors, you'll know he's using this attack. You won't be able to dodge it completely, so be wary. Use a spell and be prepared, lest you want to perish.

World bosses are massive bosses that randomly spawn in Diablo 4's World. Wandering Death is one of three behemoth World Bosses that you'll encounter. He is a skeleton and will circle you until you attack. His most lethal attack is his death beam, where he casts a beam and slowly moves around. Move at the same pace as him to dodge it, or get in between the beams.

He drops valuable loot which is worth the effort to defeat him. The fulfilling thing about beating a World Boss like Wandering Death is that they drop special items that can add sockets to your gear. These are called Scattered Prisms.

Avarice, a gold-horned World Boss, can drop Legendary armor and weapons when defeated, so the risk-to-reward ratio here is compensated by the chances of getting excellent loot. When fighting a World Boss like Avarice, you should be wary to avoid his portal attack.

In the later stages of fighting, Avarice will charge into a portal and come back storming out. This portal runs increasingly get more lethal. So, be sure to dodge and avoid these any time he does it. He not only drops high-rarity gear but scattered prisms as well, which makes the fight worth it.

Ashava is a female demon who is pretty much as deadly as Lilith, has an extremely high HP bar, and a lethal AoE strengthened by poisoned attacks and poison clouds that easily chip away your HP. To have a chance at defeating her, you'll need to stagger her along with your party members.

Skills that inflict crowd control effects will help stagger Ashava and diminish the strength of her poison claws and her Whirlwind attacks. Just be sure you're playing with enough party members, and you're level appropriate to take her on. She's not called a World Boss for nothing.

Lilith is Mephisto's daughter, and according to Sanctuary mythology, she's the mother of humanity. She embodies the evil/dark we all inherently have inside of us. She's the main villain of Diablo 4 and the most difficult boss you'll have to face in the game's story.

Her HP is extremely high, and you'll need to stagger her to be able to lower her health bar with strong attacks. And be wary, she has a special attack once her HP hits zero. Her rage mode turns on and can be extremely deadly. You'll have to avoid it at all costs.
